About me
Hi,
Welcome to Lorna & Lila Macrame
I live on the coast of Western Australia with my husband and our three daughters. I design and create macrame in my home studio.
My love of macrame began in the late 1970's. My gorgeous grandmothers, Lorna & Lila, taught my sister and I to knot and create owl and poodle wall hangers. Macrame is back and thankfully the rope is much more forgiving and nicer to work with than it was in the 70’s!
Lorna & Lila macrame has a vintage vibe tweaked for modern decor. Inspired by life on the beautiful West Coast of Australia, I create organic pieces using natural cotton and jute, driftwood and shells. With very little structured planning I trust my instincts and I'm discovering my style through daily experience and influences.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you've found some inspiration for your home.

My love of macramé began in the late 1970s, when my beautiful grandmothers, Lorna and Lila, taught my sister and me how to knot.
We’d spend hours making poodle and owl wall hangings—pieces full of personality and charm (even if the rope back then was a bit rough on the hands!). Their creativity and patience shaped not only my skills but my love for handmade craft, and this little business is named in their honour.

Hey there, I'm Kate!
I live by the coast in Western Australia with my husband and our three daughters, creating macramé from my home studio—usually with the sea breeze drifting in and a cup of tea nearby.
Lorna & Lila Macramé is a way for me to share that magic. It allows me to work from home, be present with my family, and create meaningful pieces for others to enjoy. I’m passionate about quality and craftsmanship, and I love that this work connects me with people who appreciate the time, care, and heart that goes into something handmade.
I create macramé with a vintage soul and a modern sensibility.
Each piece is inspired by the coastal lifestyle I love—organic forms, natural fibres like cotton and jute, driftwood, shells, and soft, earthy tones. I don’t follow patterns or over-plan; I trust my hands and intuition to guide the design. It’s a slow, instinctive process—and that’s where the magic lies.
